My comments on tutoring Spelling : The Barton Reading & Spelling System is an Orton-Gillingham influenced, simultaneously multisensory, explicit, and systematic phonics program. This is the program I use to help students with reading and spelling difficulties.

After graduating with my Bachelors Degree, I worked in a Residential Treatment Center for abused children for two years. One year of this experience took place in a classroom setting to assist teachers with behavior issues. Upon receiving my California Teaching Credential, I worked in California public schools teaching in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. I have experience teaching all subjects, K-12 from homeschooling my own children. For the last 3 years I have been using the Barton Reading and Spelling System to tutor. Try to customize to students intrest in order to keeep attention and make as entertaining as possible. Every child sees things from different eyes. I just teach them how to look. A Little Bit About Me...

Although I have not formally been in the classroom since 1998, I regularly tutor my own children. While in college at MTSU, I was a substitute teacher in Rutherford County for 3 years, mainly substituting at Central Middle School. I also did various volunteer tutoring in the Elementary schools as class credit toward my degree.
