I graduated cum laude from the University of California, Irvine with a BA in history and minors in biology and psychology. Earning a history degree required me to write several essays, including a thirty-page research paper, and this experience made me a better writer (and eventually, a better teacher). After graduating, I worked at a tutoring center for over a year, teaching English and history to K-12 students and math to K-6 students. I also prepared students for AP history tests and the reading and writing components of the SAT. I began my career in education in 1993 as an Instructional Aide. That experience cemented my desire to be a teacher. Since that time I have devoted myself to getting the education necessary for that dream to come true.I now have a Bachelor's in English, and a Master's in Education. While attending school I tutored after-school students and substituted whenever possible. Concurrent with my Master's studies I was attending the teacher training program. I hold an Institutional Recommendation for Credential. My Master's degree has an endorsement for teaching SEI (Sheltered English Immersion), and I hold a certificate for teaching TESL.
