I have been in the field of education for approximately 14 years of which the last 8 years have been special education. I have worked with students of all ages, on all skill levels and many with learning disabilities through 8th grade. I was a high school art teacher for two years and I worked in a college library for four years. I am able and willing to work with students of all ages. My emphasis has been the field of language arts; however, I taught middle school math for students with learning disabilities for two years. I earned my Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2003 and I have taught creative writing, theatre, playwriting, and acting since then. In 2005, I gained my substitute teacher credential and have taught all around Sacramento, substituting for teachers in all subjects. I also write plays and poems. I have always had an interest and talent for teaching kids. I have taught kids from one on one, all the way to audiences of 300. I have also worked as a nanny for 10 years, so I know what kids are into, what they like, and how to get them to respond.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love the fact that, as an individual I can or could possible change the way kids learn. I usually want the child to feel comfortable, but yet show them who is in charge. Every child learns in different ways, therefore I am always willing to teach in anyway possible to get the child rolling in their studies. If a game or just using objects to help kids learn then we will do so. Every child is unique in their own way and everyone learns differently, no one child is ever the same. We all strive to be the best, but it takes time to be the best, therefore I like to take the time to get to know the individual at a personal and professional level. Their concerns are my concerns, but there is a student-teacher boundry that has to be set. Some rules will be established and learning will be done in a timely manner.
