I did not graduate from high school but I knew I had to and could put myself through college. It was during this time in my life that I began to appreciate the importance of education. It was after this time that my past situation aided me in landing my first job in education. I was offered a position to teach non-traditional high school students who were just like I used to be. A Little Bit About Me...

I taught K-8 Spanish, then third grade. I understand that each child learns differently, so many methods may need to be incorporated. Repetition is something I rely on to learn vocabulary words or important concepts. Music and games are a fun way to help children and adults learn difficult or lengthy concepts. At my undergraduate program, my professor for a course in Symbolic Logic asked to refer students in the class to me, if they had questions about the material. After the class had finished, the professor hired me through the university's Philosophy Department as a tutor for the same class. After graduation, I acted as a private tutor in my spare time. At Columbia University I was a Teaching Assistant for three college courses, giving me my greatest experience with explaining course material to a large group of students.
