I taught K-8 Spanish, then third grade. I understand that each child learns differently, so many methods may need to be incorporated. Repetition is something I rely on to learn vocabulary words or important concepts. Music and games are a fun way to help children and adults learn difficult or lengthy concepts. I have been teaching in the homeschool community for about 10 years. I have learn many skills on how to handle different classroom situations. How they learn affects how I explain it to them or how I show them. If they are having trouble understanding, i will model their question and answer it correctly. I took every math course offered by a 4 year college, student taught for one 6 week session, and took some educational courses. After home educating my 4 children for 17 years, I returned to school to complete an AA degree in liberal arts and a BA degree in sociology. I now work as a math teacher working with children who range in age from 9-17 and have special needs.

For over five years I taught Sunday school for children ages six to ten. I believe the ability to explain to a taxpayer the process of determining his/her refund and/or tax liability and their ability to understand demonstrates some teaching ability. Personally, I enjoy everything about education. I believe that if you can educate a person, then doors are opened for them. I am the type of tutor that gives basic instructions, then I allow the student to try a few things on their own. If they struggle, then I will step in and help them. I prefer to go over the same material as much as needed until the student is comfortable with the subject matter. Then, I like to move on to a new subject.
In relation to the tutoring position, I have a year of experience in tutoring grammar school students in math and reading.
