I like to see where the student is at, what they are interested to learn and go from there. I like to expose them to all areas if they are open as I feel it can help them in other ways to enhance other skills. It is important for students to move at their own pace, while encouraging them. I start with basic drawing, watercolor, etc., introducing them slowly to other mediums if they are open. I like them to have a good understanding of the medium they are working on before moving to another. Also, I like to incorporate times where there is a crafty project to keep in fun and interesting. My parents noticed when I was very young that I had natural artistic ability and put me into private art lessons.
