Teaching is so rewarding, there's nothing better than helping someone understand something they have struggled with in the past. I am a very patient person who loves to work with people. I also enjoy helping people overcome challenges. For example: when I worked at the accounting office my specialty was dealing with clients who had or have issues with the IRS. I try to keep the material fresh and I avoid boredom and repetition at all costs. One of my best tools to connect with a young person is through humor. If the student feels relaxed they are more likely to absorb the information. I also use reverse psychology to turn the tables so they actually find themselves teaching me the material. This has been a successful tool with children I have mentored as well as my own children.
I began teaching/tutoring while in graduate school. I tutored undergrads in sociology, psychology, and social statistics.
