I have tutored students in reading programs from first grade to the High School Equivalency program. I also have a B.S. in broadcast journalism and currently am a literacy teacher in the fifth grade at LaFollette Elementary School in Campbell County. I currently tutor a fifth grade student and a first grade student after school but have plenty of time to add to my schedule.
I have training in the Balanced Literacy program in which the word study, reading objectives, and writers' workshop are combined in a one and a half hour block of student driven, teacher facilitated activities. These are ultimately shared in a whole group and or one on one setting. I graduated summa cum laude from Berea College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. I haven taken many courses in biology and chemistry. I am also very proficient in algebra and trigonometry, and I have taken one course in calculus. As a high school student I worked in an after school program tutoring children in grades 3 to 8 in reading and math. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a fluent spanish speaker, I spent the first 13 years of my life in Mexico. I am a U.S citizen since birth, and I have taught 1 year of spanish to ages 2-14 at Natures way Montessori School in Knoxville, TN. I enjoy teaching, and have been apart as a counselor and director of many Summer camps of elemntary and middle school age children. I have a great desire to serve people.
