Since undergraduate work, I have worked in the business world, primarily in the manufacturing arena. My academic experiences have continued on some level. In times past I tutored high school math students in North Carolina. I am proficient is equations, inequalities, Cartesian Coordinate System, polynomials, factoring and functions. My style focuses on the processes in arriving at a solution. The learning goal in mathematics is to impart understanding of the process of working toward a solution, not attaining the solution. In mathematics as many other endeavors, it is how we proceed to a goal that is important, not the goal itself. I am a driven individual who has obtained a Masters in Social Work with a concentration in Child Welfare in addition to a BA in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. While attending graduate school I worked as a substitute teacher which allowed me to gain experience working with children of various ages and levels. I believe in personal interaction with students – making them write, making them read – going over every detail, looking at the issues (grammar, punctuation, syntax, coherent structure (logic, unity, transitions, parallelism,)) and then re-writing and re-reading. The key to doing well in English is understanding basic structure and making it become second nature when writing.
