I am consistent and organized and that is how my teaching style is and has helped me when teaching because I always had things ready to go.
I have taught in a special education setting for 14 years. I have worked with kids at all levels and with many disorders. I taught all subject areas as well. I would describe my teaching style as hands on and according to multiple learning styles. I understand that students learn best when they have the option of working with material objects. I also realize that students all learn in different ways and therefore I try to teach to each student's learning style. If a student doesn't understand it one way, I try to teach it another way so that he/she can learn it.
In 2001, I graduated from IUP with a degree in elementary education. I substitute taught around the South Hills of Pittsburgh for a year, then moved to Virginia, where I taught fifth grade for four years. For social studies, most student think that class is all about taking notes and reading from the book but I put a twist on all of my lessons.
