As a teacher, I have learned that not only can I teach the children, but they can teach me how to help them better understand. Each child has a different way of learning and it is my job to help them develop the skills that they need in order to process the information. Teaching is also about forming a trusting relationship with your students and letting them know that I am here to help them.
As a graduate of the University of Alabama, I have had several experiences within the classroom. Throughout my student teaching, I have worked with grades K, 2, 3, and 5. I graduated from Wake Forest in 2008, double-majoring in Mathematics and Physics. I also took some courses in the Education Department, and substitute taught for public high schools and middle schools in Winston-Salem, NC and Metairie, LA. I have worked in tutoring programs for elementary school children approximately twice a week for a total of twelve months. I had a great opportunities to help and assist students when i attended high school and college.
