I think educators must take into account the different ways in which students learn. For instance, I've noticed that math students may have difficulty adding and subtracting fractions, but have no trouble whatsoever when I ask about dimes and quarters. If an instructor can build a bridge between new material and material the student has already mastered, the student's retention can significantly improve. I am a certified CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) Level 2 tutor, and have tutored over 150 hours at UAH. A majority of those hours were logged as I played collegiate baseball for UAH as a pitcher.
