More About This Tutor...

I will tailor my teaching style to fit your needs. First, I will need to know what you are studying as well as your goals. Then we will work together to discover what methods will work the best for you to learn. From there, I will work on methods to use during our time together to help you learn. Given the diverse topics I can tutor in, it is difficult to say what my precise methods would be. I will work to give you the tools to study on your own.
I am a recent graduate from Miami University. I have a degree in Adolescent/Young Adult Social Studies Education and my teaching certification is currently pending. I have over 60 credit hours completed towards a degree in music. My focus as a music student was voice, but I also spent a lot of time studying African American music. Prior to college, I spent 7 years as a percussionist. Combining many of my experiences was time spent ... read more

My comments on tutoring Musical : I have not only received training in playing instruments but also other musical aspects

I have been doing something in music for 30 years. I have a B.A in music from Wright State University which I obtained in 2003. I also have 6 years of private music instruction on various instruments. I have played in several different groups consisting of a wide range of music. I have classical training but I also know how to teach rock, pop, jazz and metal on certain instruments
I believe that every child is unique and needs to have a teaching style unique to them

A Little Bit About Me...

I feel very strongly that every child has the ability to learn when they are given the right encouragement. While working on my Japanese minor I quickly discovered that finding a method that works for an individual student is the most important part of studying productively. I feel that my fresh, creative outlook will supplement the classroom experience well and offer alternative methods to learning that may not be available at your child's school.
While I have not tutored academically in the past, I have taught my community's equivalent of the DARE program to fourth grade classes for two years and have also taught art lessons to children of all ages.

I believe that all children should receive the extra help that they need. Often time in the classroom, a teacher does not have the time to give the support of the needs of each student in the classroom. Teachers and tutors should try their best to make sure they focus on individual needs of the students so that they can help them succeed.
As a recent college graduate, I feel that I have received the formal training necessary to become a teacher. I have obtained a BS in Early Childhood Education. Over the past two years I have also spent time tutoring elementary school children in the subject of reading, and also spent about 3 months working one on one with various students in a nearby school district.

I believe listening to the kids is the first thing you have to do. Building a relationship is key to getting through to them and earning their respect. Then, you can accomplish any goals before you with a team attitude and approach. Although I do not have any formal classroom teaching experience, I have trained numerous adults in the corporate environment on processes and procedures.
I have been in the corporate world since 2002. I have seven years of experience with large Fortune 500 companies like Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Cardinal Health. Due to the economy and my own personal vocational goals, I want to get more into teaching as I know I have a lot of real world experience to share as well as just the book knowledge. I am an excellent communicator and can't wait to get started helping kids succeed.

I am an Ohio certified teacher with 10+ years of teaching experience. I have taught in both public and private schools, in elementary and middle schools. I have tutored and taught outside the tradition classroom in the field of mathematics for grades K-college including General Mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, College Algebra, Integrated Mathematics, SAT/ACT prep, and EMT mathematics. When I first attended Wilmington College, I was in early childhood education. I completed a whole semester of student teaching and volunteered for tutoring after school. I finally had decided that teaching was not for me because I wanted more of an office setting job so i decided to major in business management. I have decided that I want to pursue in subsitute teaching so that I am able to help children and spend more time with my newborn.
Nothing is better than seeing a huge smile on a child's face once they cath on to something. I love helping children learn by doing a lot of visual activities and practicing! I was always the only person who could help my younger sister study for tests because she said my teaching techinique is very helpful and makes her remember things. It always made me feel good knowing i was the only one who could help her study!

I have earned my Bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis in Elementary Education. During my undergraduate studies, I was a substitute teacher for Delaware Community Schools in Muncie, IN. I have also tutored at Huntington Learning Center. I am currently working towards earning my Master's in Early Childhood Education.
I truly love the field of education. I recognize that all students learn in different ways. I know certain teaching methods work for some students and not others. It is important to teach in several different styles.
