A Little Bit About Me...

I have been substitute teaching for 12 years in various subjects with a diverse group of students. I have also been employed as a home bound instructor for students with illness and or discipline matters for 2 years for grades 8-12. I have been tutoring privately for 12 consecutive years in multiple subjects. I have a bachelors degree in English Literature and 33 credits of teaching education at the graduate level. I have also worked summers at the YMCA with developmentally delayed adults and children.

I have worked hard to obtain my duel certification in elementary/special education. I began teaching just months after graduation and have learned a lot of knowledge and commpassion for educations and the learning process. I have taught both general and special education students and feel that I would be a great tutor to any student in need of reaching their potential.
My passion for teaching children is immense. I feel that each child has a unique way of learning and is able to reach their full potential through different avenues of learning. I am energetic, encouraging, and patient - all qualities that will further enhance any student's learning career.

More About This Tutor...

As I was once a child with a speech impediment, I received many services such as reading and writing and speech therapy throughout my elementary years. I feel it is important to help children and students receive the services they need to succeed as soon as possible. I believe students learn best with hands on experiences and in multiple modalities. I will adjust my teaching style to the learning style of the student. Some students are visual learning and some are auditory learners. Whichever style they may be, I will make sure to provide examples and activities that fit their needs. I have chosen a field that helps children and students because I feel it is important that students receive education from educators that care about their success and that want to make a difference in a child's life.
