My comments on tutoring Poetry : Poetry is a very interesting part of literature. It requires the ability to interpret words, group of words, and sentences. some students interpret a poem literally as poems connotes and quotes words that are c\sophisticated and complicated. Students need to learn to identify and distinguish a stanza, rhythm, meter, and timing of a poem.

I started teaching right after my college graduation from Philippine Normal University. I taught ESL (English as A Second Language in public schools from 1968 - 1985. From 1985 - 1991 I taught at the United States Refugee Program. On October 1991 I was sent by the US Refugee Program to University of Omaha, Nebraska as a guest lecturer on ESL. Then I worked as a tutor in English Business for foreign professionals in Connecticut from December 1991 - 1995. Your Child's Best Interest.

I have student taught since my senior year in high school as a credit. I have tutored family members and coworkers. I am currently a third year student at Glendale Community College (GCC) and my major is Secondary Education in English. I student taught Senior English last semester and this experience has proved that this is the place that I want to be. I plan on going to ASU in the Fall of 2019 to continue my education.
I want your child to be able to feel comfortable to ask questions. A lot of students are scared to look "less than" in front of their peers if they ask questions. English and Literature are subjects meant to be questioned and not just read. I believe that your child has every capability to learn and my job is to help them turn on the light bulb to help them see that reading and writing aren't as hard as they seem to be.

My teaching style is quite organized, but also empathetic. I allow for students to use their various aptitudes and abilities to learn. For example, when a student normally presents a report to the class, that student reads from his notes. I had one student who was musically inclined and played her guitar to make her presentation. She used her musical skills quite effectively.
I am currently certified in the state of Arizona in the following subjects: English, Latin and general sciences. I teach two courses of Latin at Glendale Community College, Glendale, Arizona.
