For the 2011-2012 school year, I was a math tutor for Charles E. Nash Elementary school in Ft. worth/TX. In the evening and on weekend, I also tutor students in grade level ranging from 4th graders to college students. The most effective methods for teaching math to any students level is to make it relevant, connect math content to every days' life. We use math everyday and yet most of our youngster don't even realize that, especially when it comes to higher math level like calculus or even algebra. The basic foundation math skill is add/subtract/multiply/and divide and this essential skill must be mastered by the time you complete your 5th grade level. If this skill is not mastered, students will fall behind as he/she move on to the next grade level. I currently teach at the high school level and have a passion for education. I have had 3 years experience working with students in a subject that they find difficult to master and have succeeded in improving test scores at my current employment. I am patient, non-judgmental and considerate. I will always consider the student and what their specific learning style is and work with them from there.
