I am graduating with my Bachelor's degree in Sociology at Tennessee Technological University of Cookeville, TN. I transferred from a 2 year community college in Harriman, TN known as Roane State Community College. Before starting college, I graduated from Rockwood High School in Rockwood, TN, where I never made lower than a B or a high C in some of my harder classes. I started taking college classes in my Senior year of high school and I was always in the advanced Math classes up until that point. A Little Bit About Me...

I attended Middle Tennessee State University from spring 1993-fall 1997, graduating in Dec. 1997 (B.S. degree). My major is art educ., my minor is secondary educ. My teaching license was in art educ./K-12. I was a member of The Gamma Beta Phi Society, the top 15% of my class. My gpa was 3.2 and I won two scholarships. I did my student teaching at the Lebanon High and at the Las Cassas Elementary Schools in fall 1997. I taught art at Mt. Juliet Elementary School, and taught private adult & children’s art classes at An Invitation to the Dance studio in Murfreesboro and at the Murfreesboro Art League. I have tutored several students (math, guitar, riding, reading, art, etc.)and worked mostly in the graphic and fine arts for my living.

Tutoring is one of the most challenging, but rewarding, endeavors that I have undertaken. Each student has a unique learning style; as a tutor, I must determine which style the student favors and then modify the subject matter in a way most suited to the student’s understanding. It is my firm belief that, given enough dedication and the proper teacher, every student is capable of learning. As a tutor, I focus on conceptual understanding behind the problem. A well-taught student should be able to do a problem on a test that he or she has never seen before, so long as the concept is similar to something previously shown.
