A Little Bit About Me...

During my four years at East TN State University (ETSU), I tutored college students in General and Organic Chemistry, and multiple Psychology courses. I also taught for Kaplan Test Prep in small classes and prepared high school students for the SAT and ACT. I graduated in 2004 with a BS in Psychology. I then went to South College to get my teaching certificate. I student taught for 16 weeks under two wonderful mentoring teachers, and started subbing in January 2005. In August 2005 I received a full-time teaching position, and that is my current career.
I love teaching and tutoring children of all ages. Although I have only formally been tutoring for about 6 years, I was a tutor all through my childhood helping other children learn when I finished with my classwork. My goal in attending the University of Tennessee was initially for the purpose of doing research; this led me to pursue a BS in BCMB.I began volunteering with middle school,high school,and college students at my church in 2005,which revealed to me my love of working with students this age.Over the past five years, I have tutored students in math and science,from fifth grade math to college-level chemistry. I worked as a substitute teacher in spring of 2008 and was hired to teach high school chemistry and eventually algebra at a private school from fall of 2008 to spring of 2010.In fall of 2009,I began taking graduate courses to gain teaching certification,and I completed this process in December of 2010,through LMU.
