I am a recent Bachelor of Arts graduate with a double major in Philosophy and Political Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park, NJ. During the latter part of my college experience, I began teaching in K-12 classrooms. Quickly and suddenly, I realized that I was going to make teaching a career, both because of the personal satisfaction it gave me and because of my effect on the students. Therefore, I make sure to treat them with respect. As far as foreign language teaching is concerned, I stress the difference between "decoding" and "comprehension". I want my students to be able to read in the foreign language and completely understand, rather than just read the letters and sound out the word.
As a soon-to-be graduate of Oberlin College, I understand the importance of education. I am an East Asian Studies major and Creative Writing minor, so I have extensive experience in writing analytic papers about Japanese culture and original stories. I'd be willing to provide some writing samples upon request. In addition ... read more
