A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching one-on-one and have found this to be the most effective in regards to my students success. I believe that every student can do well in math but every student has a different pace. I try to adapt to each student's pace/learning style as I explain a new concept.
After completing my MS in Mathematics from CSU East Bay, I began tutoring high school students privately. Then, I taught Finite Math, Elementary Algebra, and Intermediate Algebra courses at Faulkner University and at Auburn University Montgomery as an adjunct instructor. This past year I taught high school math, science and Spanish at a Success Unlimited Academy (private). I also tutored K-12 students in math and science. My teaching style with younger children is to have a relaxed setting where no pressure in placed upon the student. I'm always sure to review my material before going into a new lecture. When a student is not understanding the material I try to use many methods for then to gain a better understanding. When I was younger it was easier for me to understand information if I can relate it to my life, so I will apply the same methods with teaching others.
As a college student I am still striving for my goal and dream of becoming a veterinarian. I have always been a mentor in my community and willing to help others where they need help. My favorite subjects throughout grade school include math and science, in which I have excelled in both by being placed in honor level classes throughout high school. I start by asking the students to tell me exactly what is it that they not understand and start from there. I then like to work backwards from that point to find where they got lost. I also use everyday concepts to give similiar scenarios to get them on the right track. I find pleasure in seeing their faces light up once they come to understand the subject matter.
