"Excellent tutor!"
- Annetta, Lexington, KY on 12/29/12
My 11 year old son had brought home a poor grade in pre-algrbra. I was beside myself. I knew he was intelligent but obviously was missing connections that could be made with one-on-one help. I've always helped my son with his homework but I'm not a teacher, and especially not math one! I decided to hire a tutor and found Devin. Thank goodness I did. My son went to an A within 3 tutoring sessions!!! As an adult returning to college myself I understand there isn't a price that can be put on a solid educational foundation, especially math since it only builds on what you previously have learned. We can't thank Devin enough! My son is SO confident of himself now and actually looks forward to learning more math skills instead of trying to hide his homework like he did before. My Motto: With each concept I did not know, there’s always a

Mary W. - Hermitage, TN 37076 (30 mi) - Pre-Algebra Tutor - $35.00/hr.
I have taught prealgebra for 2 years. I have been teaching math since 8/2000. I first began teaching in a large urban district and then switched to teaching in a private school. I have taught math at both the high school and middle school levels. The subjects I have taught include algebra I and II, geometry, AP Calculus AB,and middle school math. I have tutored math every year that I taught, and also tutored GED math for 1 year. I think that I am very clear and concise in my explanations of concepts. I am also very good at explaining concepts in multiple ways. So if a student doesn't get how to do a problem using one method, I can go over another approach. I'm a good listener.

I loved teaching. Beside my engineering goals, I love to share my knowledges to other people in need. I worked and have experience teaching all mathematics level.I believe that all children deserve education and the only way we can achieve this is by transferring what we have as knowledge to the others. A good teacher is the one who combines his or her knowledge with patience because that is the only we can get to the level of student who have difficulties, understand them and helping to bring them to improve their reasonning skills. I graduated from Tennesse State University with a bachelor degree in electrical engineering and technology. Actually, I working on my masters degree in the same field. I will be graduated in may of 2011.I worked for almost 3 years as math tutor at the ICAN tutorial center at TSU where I helped undergraduated students in calculus 1- 4, also college a

Merrida C. - Antioch, TN 37013 (37.5 mi) - Pre-Algebra Tutor - $32.50/hr.
I am a believer in learning and understanding concepts and principles of the subject being studied. Asking why and how we come to a conclusion rather than memorizing or mindlessly going through steps generates long term success. I believe that this is the best way for a student to prepare for any question or scenario that may be asked or given as well as preparing for future expansion in the subject. I am a pre-med student at MTSU, and I will be graduating with a second degree in Science this year. I have experience tutoring grade school students in math and reading subjects. I also have experience teaching college students in science subjects. Before attending MTSU, I was a professional ballroom dancer and instructor for five years. I have experience teaching ballroom dancing to children as young as five and adults as young as 70!

My teaching style is hands on. I prefer to connect with the individual in order to determine how they learn best. I adapt my style in order to reach and connect with the individual on their level and preferred learning style. • Student teaching in 2nd grade English and Language Arts. This experience allowed me to connect with indictable students and work with struggling leathers. This one on ken time allowed me to target the specific area the student was struggling with and offer solutions. The students showed improvement over time.
• Practicum experience in 6th grade Social Studies.
• Experience advising and lecturing in a higher education setting at Tennessee Technological University as a Graduate Assistant.
