I believe it is so important to be a stepping stone for a child. You should be there for them when they start to stumble, but you shouldn't do everything for them. I am an Elementary Education major at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. I have many hours of field experience that I have completed for my education courses. I have helped out with all age groups during my field experience. I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I spent a year as a Substitute Teacher in Lincoln, NE. I then took a year and a half break from teaching to recruit for a small college. I went back into teaching as a grade 7-12 mathematics teacher. I was responsible for the 7th grade through pre-calculus courses at Wheatland Public Schools in Madrid Nebraska. This school was then combined into Grant Public Schools. I graduated with a Biopsychology degree or otherwise known as Behavioral Neuroscience. This degree enabled me to study organic and inorganic chemistry, biology (immunology, biochemistry etc.), math (statistics, calculus) and 1 year of physics. My favorite class, however, was a psychology class called learning and behavior. I like to make teaching fun. I pride myself on my ability to add fun through puzzles, arts and crafts, etc. and teach all at the same time. It is so rewarding when a child you are working with accomplishes what they may have though to be the impossible.
