I have spent most of my adult life helping children learn. I have worked in childcare facilities, as well as in public and private schools and as a private tutor. I have taught or worked with preschoolers through 5th graders. I've worked with special needs children, as well (ADD/ADHD, LD, ED, and ODD, for example). I've helped students improve their grades by two letter grades over the course of the year, and helped some achieve honor roll for the first time in their lives. I’m interested in teaching children earth science and molecular biology. During college I studied art also, this allowed me to be strong in diagrams and understanding photosynthesis and other processes in science with great detail. I learned by color and charts and relied on a dry erase board to learn the human body in Anatomy. I could take a mental picture and learn the names clearly.
My only documented tutoring was with the local elementary school in a program called “Reading Buddies”. I had a syllabus for the children and was rewarded with clear results on both children. It was an after school activity during High School and only lasted for one school year. I remember the feeling of having a result and the satisfaction that only a few minutes spent lasted till the end of the program.

A Little Bit About Me...

Children's church is where a year of my experience comes from. I would guide a group of children during the service and would spend individual time with those who wanted to brush up on their reading and writing. I enjoyed every minute of this experience and can say I made an impact in those children's lives.
I love working with children of all ages. I can say I am patient enough to deal with elementary students being that I've done so before.
