I believe that ALL children are capable of learning. It is my responsibility to seek out those methodologies that are most compatible for the children in my care. My administrators usually placed those students who were struggling in my care. I don't believe in using just one "curriculum" but am adept at combining a variety of techniques that will best enable the children find out that they are, indeed, capable of learning! Teaching reading and writing are particular joys to me, as I believe anyone who learns to read has opened up a whole new world. Learning can be fun and relaxed, while achieving the goals necessary for academic success. I currently teach in an interim classroom for secondary students who have been suspended or expelled. I teach all subjects, but am most comfortable with LA and math. Before this, I taught in a high school classroom for students with behavioral disabilities. I taught LA and social skills. I also have been a para-educator in a junior high school, a substitute teacher, and taught dance lessons. I have worked with students of many different backgrounds, ages, and abilities. I love to help a student find that "a-ha" moment where he or she finally understands a concept that has been a struggle. I enjoy teaching new concepts or working with students to master a concept.
