Pre-Algebra Tutors & Teachers for Lessons, Instruction or Help in Wendover, UT

I have worked as a math tutor at Snow College for a year where I helped students understand and learn material essential to complete the courses. The courses ranged from math 1010 College Algebra to math 1080 Precalculus. I understand minor calculus concepts and can be an asset to learning it. I love teaching and want to do more.

I would prefer the library, just because it is big and open. The library in Tooele is a great example. It has rooms that can be used. I would prefer tutoring no more than 10 students at a time. If I can get a copy of the lesson before hand, I can be prepared. Most of the subjects I have selected I passed with an 85% or better. I also did some tutoring in high school for other students. If I didn't learn it, I am most likely to figure out what is going on. It helps to know before hand what the lesson and subject is, just so I can remember what it is and to be more prepared.

Hands on approaches mixed with worldly knowledge, and a very patient style. Experience throughout school, work and personal experience dealing with the mentally challenged and dyslexia. my best friend had a son who was dyslexic and also he had ADD and I got him to trust me in babysitting and I taught him various things. I taught him how to read and write he could not accomplish that on his own. He was 11 at the time and I think with kids you have to be creative to teach them and I am very creative. I also have an aunt who is mentally handicapped, and I love spending time with her she is a very giving person. They teach me and it is always a joy to work with them and give something back.

I like to get a student to the point where that student can apply basic skills to complete a problem. Once the student can apply those steps, I then like to move onward to get the student to be able to understand the reasoning behind the solution to the problem so that the student can use these steps to solve similar types of problems. I have spent a lot of time as a soccer referee and coach as well as a chess team coach working with youth. I have spent over 30 years working in various positions in the computer industry. I returned to school to gain a Mathematics/Teaching degree (without certification) from the University of Utah. I have taught for a single year at West Wendover HS in West Wendover, NV. During that year, I taught basic applied math classes as well as Algebra I, Algebra II and Pre-Calculus classes.

As a Clemson graduate, I understand the importance of education. I have written many technical reports and research papers relevant to both of my degrees and my professional career. I have actively tutored High School students on a volunteer basis in my communities. I often filled in as a substitute teacher in the residential setting for at risk youth. I have tutored and taught, English, Social Studies, Math, and Science. I have worked with children and adults that have been mentally and/or physically challenged.
