Tutoring should be a tool used to complement traditional education. When tutoring there is little help in providing information to the student the same way that the teacher presents it. Tutors may also fall into the trap of simply giving the student the answers. For these reasons I prefer an holistic approach to tutoring. Every student is different and they all have different ways of understanding the material. As I am tutoring I keep in mind that I am also learning, keeping an open mind about the way a students is learning helps me to determine the best method of teaching the subject at hand.

I know that every student learns differently; so as a teacher, I must find the best way to teach each student and transfer that into my lessons, so that all the students get involved. I also believe in more hands-on and relating information to modern day things that the students can relate to, which will allow them to re-call the information better.

Throughout my four years at Siena College i have been involved in the tutoring done by the Siena College physics club. this tutoring has been all general and specific fields of math and science. I have covered such fields as math through differential equations, general physics through relativity and modern, and general chemistry.
