My initial experience was as a 2nd grade teacher in the Milwaukee Public Schools.(6years) I then moved to Ohio where I taught for 4 years as a Learning and Behavior Disordered teacher. I attended Kent State University and procured a Masters in Counseling for the Elementary Children. I taught Creative Dance in the Tucson, Arizona Pre-Schools (8 of them) for several years and then moved tom Reno, Nv where I worked as a Kindergarten teacher for one year and then served as teacher in the first, second, third, and fourth grades for a total of 11 years. I believe in the Democratic approach to Educating the young. I start the year by asking the students what they would like to learn that year and we record this on a large sheet of paper. I believe that our children hold the future of our world in their hands and hearts and for this reason I have a deep desire to assist them in learning all of their subjects as well as they can. My approach is democratic in that I ask the child for his/her input on what they like to study and learn too. Finding out a childs loves is important for a teacher. An example is: Going to the library to find books for students to read because it is something they enjoy as well as doing their assigned class work. I use a balanced, patient, kind approach with children. They respond best to this attitude.
