My teaching style is to lead the student into an understanding of the material through discussion, hands-on projects, practice and mastery. It is important to master the previous material before moving on to the new. It is also important to relate new topics to what the student already knows. This helps the student to not only understand it better but also to remember it better and use it correctly. A Little Bit About Me...

As an Americorp participant during my early college years I learned of the many joys that teaching can give. I have a BS in general studies and very close to a BS in psychology, criminal justice, and English. I have taught at a college for 3 years, substituted for various school districts for 2, and I am currently finishing a full-time jr. High teaching position at Immanuel Christian School.
I love one on one or small class sizes. Each child is so different in their own way and each have such a different learning style that I like to take it slow and be personal with each student. I really like to help people in general, that's the reason why I became a Resident Assistant. As a Resident Assistant I have aided many students with problems they may have in their first year of college, including tutoring them in subjects i am proficient in. I like to see people grow and learn over which is achieved by aiding a person in discovering and cultivating various talents.
My tutoring experience isn't really too official. I mostly just help people with College Algebra around the dorms. I am pretty good with teaching and helping with math, and could probably do it at a High School level. Not actually having a BS probably will just limit me to high school tutoring.
