A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching experience began in high school, when I would review and edit my classmates essays. On several occasions, I also went through essays line by line. In addition, I taught swim lessons to preschool aged children, and helped coach crew to high school aged students. Throughout college, I continued to aid my peers with their essays, and often participated in workshops outside of class. As a writer, I have extensively studied methods of teaching to English Language Learners, and native speakers alike. I have also conducted research in rhetoric studies and language acquisition. In short, I love English written and spoken, and I have a passion for teaching.

I was also a private tutor for a high school student. Together we improved her study skills and organization. I assisted her with writing assignments, projects, and daily homework. I also worked in the Camden County school system as a substitute teacher and secretary. At Mercer University, I earned my BA in Communications and Theater Arts, and an English minor. I also hold certifications through GACE (Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators) in Early Childhood Education and Middle Grades Language Arts.

I have a passion for teaching and as such opened a tutoring service that I ran for four years. I hold a Bachelors of General Studies from Valdosta State University and will graduate with my Master of Business Administration in May 2010. I excel at tutoring in English, sociology, psychology, mathematics, science, literature, and social studies.
