A Little Bit About Me...

I am very experienced in teaching small groups of college level students. During my senior year of college I was selected to be a Russian apprentice teacher through Kenyon College's Intensive Language Program. I taught students three times per week for approximately an hour each session. I had to go through training for this position, which taught me how to design lessons and utilize teaching tools to help students understand the material. As I am a recent graduate myself, I understand the needs of most students and what it takes to keep them engaged in learning. For example, I frequently used games as memorization tools for students that focused on repetition as a learning aid. In September, I am leaving to take part in the Peace Corps as a teacher of English language in Ukraine. I plan on pursuing teaching as my future career and want to keep building on my experience.

I have been working with children ever since I can remember. I love to engage in creative activities with children while helping them utilize their strengths to overcome their limitations. I've learned that by figuring out what motivates a child, s/he can learn anything! I also know that if a child is having fun, it means that s/he is learning something. My teaching style is fun, unique, focused, hands-on and engaging.
I have spent my life working towards degrees that would help me to give my life meaning. I have earned a B.S. and M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology, as well as, a bilingual extension in Spanish. Since I also love healing through nutrition and energy work, I've earned degrees in Health Counseling and Reconnective Healing. As I continue to learn myself, I hope to inspire people to do the same!

I love to work with children of any age. I have been volunteering for over 15 years helping wherever and whenever I can to help make the lives of children more enriched. I have two boys of my own (age 10 and 14) and have been successful in helping them achieve the best they can. I have been teaching kids as a substitute for many years and went back to school in my middle 30's to become a teacher. Unfortunately the availability of teaching positions in my area has prevented me from full time employment but I've kept myself busy subbing and working with young adults and those with disabilities further their educational needs.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2007 from SUNY Brockport with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, English and Special Education. I have worked as a substitute teacher in all grade levels and in all subject areas. I have been accepted into a high d ... read more

I really enjoy working with students and find a great deal of joy in teaching. I believe that all students have the capability of understanding any problem as long as enough practice and perseverance is involved. I am patient, composed, and understanding enough to help any student find their way through a problem, and am certain to let the student truly understand it before I consider the problem completed. Ultimately when I teach/tutor, my goal is to help students strive to reach their full potential, while encouraging them to actually enjoy learning. Through teaching, I aim to foster a feeling of achievement in my students that they can hopefully carry with them through the rest of their lives.
As a double major in Mathematics (BA) and Computer Science (BA), I found myself facing many difficult problems in my four years at SUNY Geneseo. In such rigorous programs, both BA's helped ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of the University at Buffalo, I have supplemented my strong academic background with extensive experience in tutoring. In addition to earning a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics, I spent the first two years of college completing coursework in physics. The following two years, I worked for the undergraduate learning center as a mathematics and English tutor, and was hired by a local tutoring organization as a mathematics teacher. Throughout my academic career, I have written research papers, essays, and newspaper articles. I have also tutored several students on a private basis. I am currently pursuing a Second Bachelor’s Degree in geology at the University at Buffalo, and expect to graduate in the spring of 2011.
