Kristy C - Wasilla, AK 99654 (1.4 mi) - Computer Tutor - $35.00/hr.
I try and find the style in which the child learns best. Many children just need help getting to where they want to go. I don't believe in ever just giving a child answers. You as teacher or tutor should lead them in the path of understanding and ask leading questions to get them to go in the right direction for the answers. Children should be able to explore their world and not be resigned to worksheets and rote answers. Learning should be a fun experience that everyone enjoys. During my undergraduate work at Florida State University I had the opportunity to spend many hours over the course of two years working in elementary schools with children. I have taught and helped tutor in all elementary subjects. My main internship was in a first grade classroom. I have always enjoyed working with children and seeing the light of understanding in their eyes.

I enjoy making a difference. I know from experience that everyone learns differently and I tailor my teaching to the individuals involved. I love it when a student who has been struggling with a concept has a light bulb go off and they are so excited to finally understand. I have over 2o years of business experience in the areas of accounting, banking and human resources with 2 masters degrees as well as a bachelors degree in business. I enjoy teaching and training at all levels from elementary students to adults. I have taught on a volunteer basis, trained employees and I am currently teaching accounting at the community college level.

While I have over 30 years of business experience, I have followed my passion and I am now teaching at SCC. My business experience includes human resource management, accounting (manufacturing and banking), and finance. I have been teaching/tutoring on a part-time basis in accounting and business for the past year. My students have rated me well and appreciate my teaching style. Many have commented that they have been able to learn the concepts and "do the math" in areas that they have struggled with in the past. More than one student has asked what classes I'm teaching the next quarter as they would like me as a teacher again. I love to learn so I love to help others learn. I have successfully worked with a number of students with various needs and levels of willingness to learn. I understand the roadblocks that are present and am able to break down those barriers and together we c

I love teaching and want to make a difference in my student's lives! I am a firm believer that every student has their own individual way of learning. Some students are visual learners, while others are auditory or kinesthetic learners. Knowing the learning styles and interests of each student leads them to success with academics.
I believe in an authoritative teaching style. I set the rules and expectations, but believe in building a trusting relationship. I am dedicated teacher that is patient, caring, and creative. I would love to help your student find success. My BS is in Social Work and my MAT is in Elementary Education. Through my experience as a teacher, social worker and coach I have found my passion in educating children. Teaching in a Title I classroom I specialized in working with students in need of additional help in Math and Reading.
I am trained in DIBELS, Wi

I have a wide variety of experience and an innate desire to learn more about the world around me. I began my undergraduate degree in Political Science, but after taking a Biology course in California, became rather excited about the sciences. I have worked in a variety of laboratory settings, as well as in the field, applying the science that I have learned to real life situations and truly gaining a better understanding of the dynamic nature of the sciences. This is what I love. From reading the latest National Geographic to listening to Science Friday on NPR, the never-ending potential of science today excites me and certainly makes me a more dynamic, animated instructor. My teaching style is very adaptive and enthusiastic, stemming from a genuine love of the material. I enjoy getting students excited about science and the endless potentials that may be found within the sciences,
