Most recently, I served as a short and long-term substitute in middle school Read 180 classes for Columbus City Schools. Read 180 is a course that strengthens reading skills. Prior to that, I worked as a tutor at Sylvan Learning Center. I facilitated tutoring sessions for small groups of students who presented various needs. I have, also, had the opportunity to teach at Columbus State Community College. There I had the privilege of providing instruction in three sections of a required English class. Unique Tutor

Substitue teacher and esl tutor for the past 4 years. I worked with various classes from Algebra to IEP classes and ESL, from Science to Social studies and everything in between. I taught classes and did not hand out worksheets. My rules in class were, you dont waste a class period. I used litle tricks to make sure they did not waste time and actually learned from me. My students often come up to me when they see me in public to say I was their favorite sub. I started off in Art Education as a major but left to go into Marketing. I have volunteered in the Clark Shawnee School System for past 3 years tutoring/mentoring kids with learning disabilities in reading skills. Last school year I was hired as a paid tutor in the school system tutoring a Chinese child (ESL student) in grammar/vocabulary/reading/spelling. This year I will be assisting with math as well. My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : I have recently obtained my Reading Endorsement certification

I have taught English/Language Arts for 3 years to 6-8 grade students, and I have worked as a tutor in various capacities for the past 7 years. This past summer I opened my own business: a program dedicated to teaching the craft of creative writing to kids. Currently, I am back in school at University of Dayton's online graduate program, with a goal of obtaining my Master's of Literacy.
I love to incorporate creative and outside-the-box approaches in my teaching methods. I genuinely believe that often, to get students to understand material, they need to be interested in the concepts and I try to keep that in mind during my preparation.
