Love children and think that all are capable of learning!

I graduate with my BS in Middle Grades Education on Dec 20th. I am ceritifed in Math and Social Studies and will seek my certification in Language Arts in Jan 2013. I just finished my apprenticeship at a local Middle School and loved every minute of it. I seem to be closer with the students that struggle and need that extra special help.
I think each child has a different learning style and once you find that they enjoy learning. I like to keep students active and do different projects that they can be creative in doing.

I tutored for Mission: Mentor while I attended Georgia State Universtity for 3 years. I was awarded Mentor of the Year in 2006 at Georgia State University. When I continued my education at Augusta State University, I volunteered as a mentor at the ASU Literacy Center helping children of all ages.
I love teaching children. For the younger children, I tend to be more hands on with projects and objects to help them learn. I also believe visual aids are very good. For middle school children learning math and English, I feel like giving them lots of practice problems and going over it together really seems to help. For students in high school it usually depends on the kid. By this age most of them have discovered if they are visual, kinetic, or auditory learners. During my course as a math tutor, I’ve found one on one tutoring to be most effective. Each child presented different needs and was receptive to different teaching methods, so I would meet with them individually. As I approach my college graduation, I have realized how fortunate I am to have been given the opportunity to attend college. I graduated from Georgia Tech in 2007 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering within a span of 3 years. I spent the next year earning a Master of Science in Medical Physics degree from the same institution and I am currently a medical student at the Medical College of Georgia. My past tutoring experiences have included teaching high school and college students math, science and writing.
I approach tutoring from an adaptive stance, in that I believe each student learns best in his own, unique way.
