I try to adapt my teaching style to the student. I keep trying different methods until we find what works best. This is probably why many of my students have told me that I am great at explaining things so they understand it. Being proficient at math is similar to being proficient at playing a musical instrument. You can’t learn to play an instrument by going to concerts and watching other people perform. It is important for the student to keep his or her view of the problem and to work off of that view, rather than to change the view to the teachers. As a young woman aspiring to become a veterinarian, I attained both a BS in Biology and an AAS in Veterinary Technology. Currently, I work for the Saratoga Springs and Ballston Spa school districts as a home instructor for grades 6 to 12.
