I have many and varied experiences in teaching music in the public schools and privately for over 30 years. I have my bachelors degree in music education-k-12 and I have almost finished my Master's degree in Music Education. My teaching experience includes classroom, vocal-choral, piano and band. During my years teaching in the public school system, I volunteered often for after-school activities organized in order to tutor the students in math, science, english, etc. I have also been a substitute teacher and have experience teaching several subjects which also included special education and emotional behavioral disabled children. I think I have gained a great understanding and insight of all the subjects required to tutor children.

Being prepared to learn is holistic and involves the mind, body and spirit to be open to receive information and process it. I promise to bring all of the above to each of my students including a professional attitude. I love teaching and tutoring children and adults. The sparkle in the eyes of students’ who complete school tasks is sufficient to make my day. A Little Bit About Me...

When considering my teaching style, it is difficult to explain a single process for teaching. When working with different people it is important to remain creative, inventive, and patient. Every person has different learning styles and it is important to recognize in that person what helps them understand more fully. Whether it is diagram and pictures, breaking a complex problem into many simple parts, comparing similar examples that are familiar to the person, or simply taking the time to make sure that the child feels comfortable saying "I don't know". All of these are useful tools, but in my opinion by far the most important is patience. Remaining patient when someone doesn't understand is the absolute most important thing. Too many children are willing to give up on a subject, all they need is someone who knows they can do it, and can show them how.

I have always enjoyed teaching. I love it when students have that moment when they finally get what you have been teaching them. I have taught a wide range of students, from Kindergarten thru 60 year-olds returning to college. I believe that the hands-on approach works best for most students, learning by applying their knowledge. I feel I have made a difference i ... read more

I have been a preschool teacher for approximately 2 years in Head Start programs. I have substitute taught in the last year. I also was a early childhood special education paraprofessional for 1 year. I have also been a lead teacher in a learning center.
I prefer to assertive in discipline but try to understand where children are coming from. I want children to learn above all else. I think that you need to be understanding but stern. I think that you need to be compassionate yet thorough.
