I work with students on a hands on, personalized instructional manner. I teach study skills as well as subject knowledge. I have worked with children throughout college, both in academic and nonacademic settings. I worked on a family literacy program at the Mississippi Childrens Museum, called Planting the Seeds to Read, which entailed teaching children literacy skills and coaching parents in literacy strategies for home. I teach at Canton Young Filmmakers Workshops every summer.

Earned Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education from University of Memphis in 1991. Taught in preschool from 1992 until 1993 in Concord, CA. Taught my own children from Kindergarten through 12th grade. After graduating from University of Memphis, I moved to California and taught in a Montessori preschool until beginning my own family. To be able to work at home, I managed a small 24 unit apartment complex for 4 years. After my third child, I began homeschooling my own children in grades K-12th grade and have for the last 10 years. I plan to continue until all have graduated. My teaching style includes more than one style because different children learn in different ways. I passed the ASVAB and served in the Marine Corp from October 2004 to October 2008. I was a motor transport operator. I served two tours in Iraq. I am a leader and believe that I will be a great asset to helping others in their desire to join the military. My extensive training in the Marine Corp gives me knowledge and experience to help others achieve success while learning the necessary skills to become a more knowledgeable person. The child chooses the style. What I mean by this is that every child is different and every one of them learn differently. Teaching on a more personal level is how to aid the best results.
