Latin Tutoring
The ordinary student can no longer count on being able to take Latin, but there are, however, extracurricular means. The College Board examinations, which serve as an educational tool for the admission of students into colleges, still features one Latin examination on a voluntary basis: Advanced Placement Latin: Vergil. Select a tutor today. Latin is still used in the process of new word production in modern languages of many different families, including English. Latin and its daughter Romance languages are the only surviving branch of the Italic language family. Other branches, known as Italic languages, are attested in documents surviving from early Italy, but were assimilated during the Roman Republic. The one possible exception is the language of the Veneti, who may have spoken Venetic in conjunction with Latin in early Roman times. Need HELP? Select a tutor now. I am currently working on a Certificate in Latin at the Catholic University of America, but previously I had taken Latin throughout High School. I am currently completing a Post Baccaulaureate certificate in Greek and Latin from the Catholic University of America. I had taken Latin during high school and worked as a tutor during that time. I am looking to begin tutoring again and hope to become a High School Latin teacher upon completing my program in December.

Timothy K. - Bethesda, MD 20814 (23.8 mi) - Latin Tutor - $49.00/hr.
The key to teaching and learning Latin is patience. My approach combines traditional methods--for example, grammar work and vocabulary exercises--with newer methods that bring the materials alive for the students--for example, stories, word games, and projects. Nine years as a teacher has taught me a lot. Whether your student is struggling with the basics or ready to do more advanced Latin, I can help. I studied Latin and Greek as an undergraduate, as well as French, German, and Russian, because I've always loved languages, especially hard ones. For the last nine years, I have tutored Latin to students ranging from those in middle school to college students and adult learners. Wanting to pursue my study of Latin and Greek further, I took a Master's degree focusing on the later life of these languages in the Middle Ages and how they grew into modern languages. I'm now a lecturer in Latin

Brittany C - Stafford, VA 22554 (25.1 mi) - Latin Tutor - $47.50/hr.
I graduated from Vanderbilt University in May 2010, and I am currently applying to medical school. In high school and college, I tutored in math, science, English, and test prep. Math and Science are my favorite subjects, but I also have much experience with tutoring English and grammar. I have also tutored people preparing for tests such as the ACT, SAT, and Gateway. I always look forward to tutoring new people becuase I not only get to make a difference in their life by helping them master what they're struggling with, but I also get to learn about people and different learning styles. I view tutoring as a way to help others while improving my interpersonal skills. I value all the skills I gain from tutoring because they will be assets when I become a physician. Working with all ages from kindergarten to college has taught me patience and how to conform to different people's needs.

Dina L - Herndon, VA 20170 (30.2 mi) - Latin Tutor - $47.00/hr.
Teaching is more than just transferring your knowledge to somebody else, it is sharing a different point of view a new culture and exploring new things.
My interpersonal skills are my best asset, I am patient and fun, but when it comes to the important aspects like studying I can also be strict and focused, which I think are important aspects in each learning process.
I want to be the reason that a boy or a girl is better in school and happier in life, because I know that I can make the difference. As a daughter of a professor I have learned that studying and learning is one of the most important things in life. Knowledge is priceless and a good that no one can take from you. Therefore I was very ambitious in university. I have started off with International Development but continued my Masters in Arabic in less than two years, because I was so focused and interested.
