Experience Summary
I studied Latin and Greek as an undergraduate, as well as French, German, and Russian, because I've always loved languages, especially hard ones. For the last nine years, I have tutored Latin to students ranging from those in middle school to college students and adult learners. Wanting to pursue my study of Latin and Greek further, I took a Master's degree focusing on the later life of these languages in the Middle Ages and how they grew into modern languages. I'm now a lecturer in Latin at a local college.
Teaching Style
The key to teaching and learning Latin is patience. My approach combines traditional methods--for example, grammar work and vocabulary exercises--with newer methods that bring the materials alive for the students--for example, stories, word games, and projects. Nine years as a teacher has taught me a lot. Whether your student is struggling with the basics or ready to do more advanced Latin, I can help.
