The student has to do the thinking understand and to be easy to memorized.
Tutoring methods depend on the student type. Must understand the audience and know how they will receive the information. There are few types of audiences: Seeing, Hearing, doing, thinking ,,, etc . Each one has his unique style but all must have the interest, willing, studying ... etc . It is a long process but the quality is important.

Most of my students are at-risk or attention deficit students, so I employ a style where I emphasize a good set of basic skills and knowing why we use the techniques we utilize. Most of my methods are visual and I emphasize laying down the structure of the solution when useful. I always tell why each step is used. If they know the why, then math becomes intuitive and not just memorized. My methods have been extremely successful and I have tutored many of my co-workers children, including the district manager's son.
I worked as a math tutor as a student worker during my last 3 years of college while working on my BS in Computer Science until 2004. I had previously studied at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and had an extensive background in Math. A Little Bit About Me...

I love to teach high school students and adults that might be struggling. I know they have the ability to learn but each in a unique way. I am hands-on, patient, kind, laid back and even a little unconventional. My goal is to reach into the students strengths and help them bolster their weaknesses through discovery. I feel that just a few moments of discovery will greatly boost confidence and lead to a better student.
While completing a degree in Survey Engineering I was picked by two professors to teach in their absence and also lead labs. The situations ranged from one-on-one to outdoor labs and from the classroom to small groups. As a manager of engineering departments at four consulting firms opportunities arose to tutor numerous individuals in both classroom and field settings and the topics were applied math involving physics, algebra, calculus and geometry. I enjoy working with students and helping them achieve their goals in School. I have experienced the difficulties first hand of learning difficult and complex subjects and I am a firm believer in practicing to become successful. Learning math and science can be a daunting task for many students but with the right explanation and examples the concepts are attainable. My goal is to provide the best explanation possible by dissecting complex problems into smaller pieces as well as reinforcing the basic rules of mathematics and science by working through problems together while explaining the process. I believe that every student is capable of learning and with a little hard work and coaching they can achieve success.

A Little Bit About Me...

I prefer to approach every student very slowly in the beginning to understand exactly where their trouble are. Listening is the most important attribute that a tutor can have followed by patience. It's my job to identify where the student's problem are and address those problems. My experience has tought me that most people just need a new perspective to understand certain materials at hand. Providing applications for someone learning new concepts is key for their development because the student understands how the concepts they're learning applies in the real world. I have been told by many of my former students that this is the reason they learn the concepts so well.

With respect to my teaching style, I liken it to a series of books written by Isaac Asimov entitled, Understanding Physics. These books have little math but explain the physical concepts in a story-like fashion. I find this very important because many physics books and instructors put too much emphasis on the mathematics and not enough on conveying the physical concepts. The result is a student who is unable to solve physics problems. First, the student must know the physical concept which then enables them to apply the correct mathematics in order to solve the problem. Mathematics is an art in itself but is simply a tool to solve physics problems.
