I graduated in business administration mainly because I excelled in the area of mathematics ever since grammar school. While I was attending Fresno State, I tutored students in the areas of mathematics, social sciences, English and Spanish. The students I helped were mainly from a program called University Migrant Services, a program that I was part of and helped me a lot at the start of my career. Students I tutored came from different socioeconomic backgrounds of the farm working communities in the valley. I developed a passion for tutoring as I discovered the great need to help out. I am a very down to earth person especially when it comes to kids. I always try to lighten up the mood and make learning things interesting and fun. I don't like to dismiss when I see a child having trouble in something. Every person has a different way of learning, I try to cater to each of their needs.
I have tutored children in reading last summer. It was one of the most gratifying things I have done. I worked with English as second language children ranging from ages 5 to 13. We used a lesson plan and several activities to help children in achieving their reading level goals.
