EASY TO UNDERSTAND MATH TUTOR

I am studying for my Master's Degree at MTSU. I have always been an exceptional math student. I have won many awards in the areas of calculus and engineering. I received a 30 on the math portion of the ACT. I tutored as apart of the National Honor Society, and attended the Governor's School for Scientific Modeling and Data Analysis.

My comments on tutoring Calculus II : I am a Tennessee licensed and certified mathematics teacher for grades 7-12. I have 8 years experience teaching at the high school level. I have experience tutoring many students in Calculus in the on-campus tutoring lab at Middle Tennessee State University. I have also done a great deal of independent study for the Actuary Exam P/1, which uses a great deal of Calculus II, especially double-integrals in applications.

I am a very energetic teacher, and I try to incorporate as much FUN into learning as I can. I believe ANY student can learn mathematics, as long as they are patient with themselves and are willing to keep trying. I like to use a wide variety of things, especially technology (graphing calculator), graphics, videos, and hands-on activities whenever I can.

I like to be interactive- when I'm teaching I prefer to work through a problem with a student together the first time, letting the student more or less watch me. The second time through, we approach the problem with a little more weight placed on the student. The third time I ask the student to attempt the problem on his/her own, and I'm available for questions.

In my final year at MTSU, Spring and Fall 2010, I had the pleasure of tutoring in mathematics. I worked for both the department of mathematics and the athletic enrichment center, each providing a different tutoring experience. This tutoring, coupled with my extensive math coursework, has provided a greater mathematical understanding and teaching experience.
Tutoring students and resolving confusion are simply additional problems to solve in math. Since many students learn in different ways, one must be able to explain the same concept in various ways. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been tutoring since high school. When I was in high school, I tutored my brother in elementary level math. When I was in college, I tutored students in chemistry and math. I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry and have also had numerous math courses. I can tutor in any math subject up to calculus 2 and up to any undergraduate chemistry course.
I find that the best way to tutor my students is to find out what they are struggling with the most in a subject and then helping them with the basics in that subject. I work with the student on the basics and then build up to more difficult material. I am patient with students of all ages. I believe that knowing the basics of a subject is always important.
