Teaching for me is a calling. My reward is watching my students grow academically and socially. As a lifelong learner, I seek to ignite a spark for self-discovery in my students' lives. While attending Bates College, I was motivated academically to achieve the best education possible. I sought out teachers who inspired me to work harder and enjoyed participating in chapel services, community service activities and participating in competitive sporting events. During school vacations, I explored jobs that followed my academic strengths. To date, I have earned two degrees, a BA in English from Bates College and a M.Ed. in Curriculum Development from Lesley University. I taught with the Bangor adult education program in the early 1980's as a graduate student in educational psychology. I taught adults a variety of subjects math, English and GED preparation at that time. I also taught English as a Second language with them. I also hold a masters in education at the University of Maine at Orono that I have not listed in the formal education section. I reserved that section for relevant finance and accounting information. But having said that, I have a broad psychology and education background (I was a clinical counselor for 12 years)that goes along with my knowledge of finance and accounting theory.

As a graduate student, I spent significant time writing and focusing on grammatical topics of technical writing. Also, I have several years of experience working with young students as an educator. As a senior in college I worked as an America Reads volunteer in an inner city school system, assisting elementary school students improve their reading skills.
