As a writer, I spent my early years refining my grammar skills and continued on this path in college, graduate school and in my professional life. I am a published poet and was accepted to attend the 2003 Breadloaf Young Writer's Conference. I I enjoy teaching students of all abilities and specialize in working with gifted and talented youth and youth who are interested in exploring the world in an experiential way. A Little Bit About Me...

My passion is the arts. I have explored a variety of areas including fibers, painting, drawing, 3-D, mixed media, collage, clay, graphic design, etc. Skills from all academic areas are used in the arts from math to history. An arts educaiton has been proven to increase learning in these areas and raise test scores. I was a K-8 art public education teacher for three years. For the past three years, I have worked with special needs children in a private school. Other areas of interest include psychology, English, and history.

I have always loved working with children. Through my experience as a special education instructor, I have learned children can learn in a variety of ways. My teaching philosophy is that each child has different strengths, and it is imperative to tailor an educational program to these strengths. By highlighting what a student is good at, their confidence is increased. This confidence will help them overcome academic obstacles. Then in 2001 I taught Title One reading in TN for a year then Fourth grade for three more years.
