Expertise with Struggling Students

I am a credentialed teacher currently working with at-risk students. I teach ALL levels of math through Algebra II, as well as computer ed. I managed our school's independent study program for 3 years, and currently help students with on-line classes (in addition to teaching in a traditional classroom.) I have also worked as a language arts enrichment instructor with K-8 students. I have tutored students in Math and Language Arts.
I love to work with individual students to find out where their confusion lies. From there, we rebuild understanding to enable them to move forward. I strongly feel that failures in learning happen in many ways, and it's important to take the time to assist the student in correcting it and moving on, instead of applying a label and giving up! Typing Skills is one of my top subjects! In high school, I took my basic keyboarding classes and learned how to operate microsoft word, powerpoint, excel, etc. I was also always one of the fastest and most proficent typers in all of my classes.

In American Sign Language I was raised learning English along with American Sign Language so I could speak to both of my parents. As my dad is hearing and my mother has been deaf since birth. Once my parents divorced I moved to Texas with my mother and step-dad, who is deaf as well. Being in an all deaf house American Sign Language was my only way of communcation with my parents. I am extremely fluent in Sign Language. I would also interpert for my parents if needed in multiple places and multiple situations. I am not certified but I have been around sign language longer than many interperturs have. As for typing skills, I have always been a proficent and fast typer all throught school.
