Typing Skills is one of my top subjects! In high school, I took my basic keyboarding classes and learned how to operate microsoft word, powerpoint, excel, etc. I was also always one of the fastest and most proficent typers in all of my classes.

In American Sign Language I was raised learning English along with American Sign Language so I could speak to both of my parents. As my dad is hearing and my mother has been deaf since birth. Once my parents divorced I moved to Texas with my mother and step-dad, who is deaf as well. Being in an all deaf house American Sign Language was my only way of communcation with my parents. I am extremely fluent in Sign Language. I would also interpert for my parents if needed in multiple places and multiple situations. I am not certified but I have been around sign language longer than many interperturs have. As for typing skills, I have always been a proficent and fast typer all throught school. I believe that an open dialogue is a teacher's most needed resource. Any child needs to feel as though he or she can express concerns or apprehensions without the fear of feeling embarrassed or stupid. I truly believe that there is no such thing as a stupid question. First, I substituted and then taught part-time, two to four subjects a year: Advanced Math and Drama, 5 years; Biology, 1 year; and Advanced Drama, 3 years. When my son started seventh grade, I began homeschooling. A Little Bit About Me...

Over the past 15 years I have had variety of different teaching experiences. I taught literature as a TA at UC Santa Barbara while studying for my Masters. I have tutored K-12 students in both Math and English. While studying for my undergraduate I assited in running a homeless shelter where I taught many of the children reading, writing, and math. I have a passion for teaching and am a mother myself and understand the true value of educating our youth.
It truly depends on the student and the subject. I try to adapt my teaching style to what the student needs. If one approach is not working, then we can work together to find an approach that does.
