I recently completed a two-month internship in TAS/OTS in EY this summer. From this experience, I gained valuable knowledge in the advisory area. I participated in a mobile internet App project for a startup technical company. The major goal for the project is to do financial forecasting for the company. In the group, my job was to help create a business plan report and translate from Chinese to English. I also worked on cash flow forecasting. As a team, we did a lot of calculation and researching of the data from client in order to evaluate the net income for up to three years. Through the estimated net income, we could evaluate how much the company need to as an investment and the risk level of the business. From this project, I applied finance and accounting skills from my MSA program. During the time at Deloitte in the summer 2012, I learned to use audit system 2 which is audit so ... read more

I enjoy the challenge of working with children. My eldest daughter is a graduate of the University of Georgia and I have two teenagers currently in Middle and high school. They have augmented my ability to be patient and flexible when assisting with their homework. Further, their diverse curriculum has made it necessary to brush up on their current subjects as well as my teaching skills. Both are top students and both have won good citizenship awards. I feel that family and teacher support sets the dynamic that allows children to grow and gain knowledge in their ongoing endeavors.
I graduated in the top ten of my high school class at Utica Free Academy. I had the highest mathematics average. I attended Williams College in Williamstown Mass and studied economics, studio art, and creative writing. Following graduation with a BA degree in 1981, I worked for two seasons as a su ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my 22+ year career in the insurance industry, I have been involved in the education and training of others. I have also been a member of our Company's "Partners in Education" program, which allows me the opportunity to speak to local area middle and high school students. On top of that, I am a proud father of four children, all of whom excel in their coursework. In my current role as a financial analyst, I work with data and statistics on a daily basis.
I thoroughly enjoy working with children. In addition to help raise my own children, I have coached from the elementary to the high school level for close to 20 years. Also, during a leave from work for medical reasons, I served as a substitute teacher in the local school district. I am a very patient and compassionate teacher, and seek opportunities to help others improve themselves. I truly believe that teaching ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Between the years of 1978 and 1984 I was a monitor and then a supervisor in a small Christian school using the ACE curriculum. They have various programmed learning booklets teaching all of the major subjects. You are actually more of a tutor than a teacher if you work with these booklets. I have experience in the four major areas of learning which are English, Math, Social Studies, and Science. I was with students from first through twelfth grade. While I was college I had occasion to take two years of college level English and also statistics up through 600 level. The English helped when I was writing my Master’s Thesis, it was 120 pages long. My committee found it to be well written. The statistics was the basis for the thesis.
I love to help a student work their way through any difficulty they are having in any of the major subjects. It is always a challenge to direct the stu ... read more

I have tutored at Clinton Senior High School in the past as a member of the National Honor Society. I am extremely proficient with mathematics having received a BS in mechanical engineering and a minor in mathematics. I did a lot of my school work in groups at college as well, so I am extremely good at working with others and know how to help people work out solutions to problems in order to figure out the answer. I have also played a great number of team sports, and have no problem working well and associating with others.
My teaching style would be to help the student formulate the problem, enabling them to arrive at the final solution by themselves. If he/she had trouble with this, I would give hints allowing them to find the correct answer. I am also very good with tips at remembering things, especially in math, which I would tell the student so they could have a better gra ... read more

Although my BS degree is in Computer Science, I have taken (and passed!) courses in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering - which means I have learned a lot of advanced math. My work as a software developer required writing "white papers" to explain and describe our software as well as test documents that would allow a person unfamiliar with our software to sit down and formally test it. During the last two years I have formally 'taught' a developmently disabled young person and I tutored a co-worker for two semesters.
Both of my parents were teachers and I find myself sharing my knowledge with anyone who seems to need it. I have instructed the ladies in my craft group, answered questions posted online, and tried to instill some basic computer upkeep knowledge in the people who've asked me for help with their personal computers. I loved explai ... read more

I started off college at Mohawk Valley Community College and earned a Liberal Arts and Science degree. I feel that all college students should be well rounded and should take a wide variety of courses. I then enrolled at Utica College to finish my BS degree. Over those two years, I took 18 science courses and most of them were accompanied by labs. It was stressful and difficult but it was something I was determined to complete. I thought I wanted to go to medical school, but later decided against it. Also during my time at Utica College, I conducted medical research with Aspartame and Omeprazole on mice. I spent some time writing these up to be submitted for journals. The instructor and I are on a hiatus from this project. I completed an internship with the Masonic Medical Research lab in the summer of 2006. I worked in the Molecular Genetics Lab. In the summer of 2008, I began working w ... read more

I teach with enthusiasm and enjoyment. A large whiteboard or table space for legal pads is a must. Students need to visualize concepts to grasp them. All errors are learning experiences, life is 'trial and error'.
I have more than 30 years experience working in many aspects of the Information Technology field. My job titles run the gamut of Application Programmer, System Programmer, System Analyst, Software Engineer, Department Manager, Director of IT, and IT Consultant. Industrywise, I’ve enjoyed working in Manufacturing, Distribution, Retail, Product Development, and Health Care. Also, I’ve had an avocation working with youth through the American Youth Soccer Organization as a coach, official, and administrator. Life moves fast, learn and enjoy as much as you can.

When helping others, I do it two ways. I tell them how to do it and guide them through it. Other times, I show them how to do it. However, I do not do it for them. I would love to have the chance to help children succeed in their education! It would be an honor!
I graduated high school in 2000 with a local diploma and then went on to college at Utica School of Commerce. I graduated in 2002 with an Associated Degree as an Administrative Specialist. I tend to prefer lectures combined with textbook assignments as opposed to teaching either using films, powerpoint presentations or computers. I work best with motivated students, even those with lower abilities, though I teach exclusively at the high school level and above. I am patient and one of my greatest assets is in analology; I have a profound ability to take complex ideas and make them simple.
I began teaching in fifth grade when my science teacher conceded that I knew more about sharks than he did, so when we got to that lesson, I took over for two days. In tenth grade, I had an internship at my high school teaching ninth grade Global Studies. When I graduated college, I began substitute teaching while I wrote my first few novels. I have substituted in every major subject at the high school level. I have also been an adjunct professor teaching study skills and busin ... read more

I enjoy being creative in the classroom. I try to develop activities that will help my students master the material but also enjoy learning. I also think it is critical to get to know your students both in and out of the classroom. This helps you to better know their interests so you are able to use these to develop appropriate lessons.
I have always loved mathematics and during high school I knew I wanted to work with children. During my senior year of high school I completed the Regional Program of Excellence through BOCES. This experience made me determine that becoming a teacher was what I wanted to do. I attended Siena College from September of 2005 until May of 2009. I am currently working on my Master's Degree at Utica College in their Leadership and Instruction in Inclusive Classrooms program.

I graduated from college in 2008 to pursue my career as an accountant. I got a great job that provided me with great experience. After working there for some time I decided to opoen my own accounting firm which I can say is going great. I would love to help others understand the great benefits one can gain from having some accounting knowledge. Math is also a great passion of mine.
I am a firm believer that every person, child or adult, learns differently. I am very devoted to finding out how that person learns the best and then teaching in a manner that allows for the individual to learn.
