I have had 22 years total of tutoring experience, worked for six different supplemental educational services tutoring providers, worked for three different online tutoring companies, and have eleven years of experience as an ESL Teacher. My teaching style is patient because I was working with younger kids, providing a demonstration of what I wanted then to do before asking them to do it, if it involves writing or any other type of physical activity. When teaching reading and vocabulary i would sound out the letter or word and then ask the child to do the same, then move on to the next letter or word. After I have gone over the material with them once, while providing tips they can use to remember certain things, I'll ask them to try it on their own. If they are still having difficulty, I'll help them sound out the letter/word till they get it on their own. That's usually all it takes.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught music in public education for the last 15 years. I have been involved in church music ministry for over 25 years, and currently am the church pianist in Stockton, Ca. I love working with children of all ages. Math is my second love and I almost majored in math instead of music. Math was always easy for me in school. Although I don't enjoy writing, I am very strong in written English and enjoy proofreading papers.
I strive to include various learning styles when working with children. Some students learn best by listening or writing, while others need movement or tactile experiences to help in comprehension. I believe in keeping students engaged at all times, to minimize wasted time. Every child has potential. A teacher just has to know how to reach each child, and that happens when the students builds trust with the teacher.
