I am a 2012 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Chemistry and concentration in Biochemistry. I have worked as a TA for the sophomore Principles of Biology (II) course as well as the Organic Chemistry Laboratory Course. I have been a tutor & academic mentor for Organic Chemistry since the summer of 2010. Additionally, I was an MCAT tutor & problem solving group leader for my University's MCAT course during the 2011-2012 year. I have tutored informally throughout high school and college, both my fellow peers and lower income students. I was part of an ESL mentoring high school program during my time in New York. During my time at college, I created a mentoring committee for underclassman that focused on business related items and school curriculum. As I spent most of my time in groups studying, I learned that I was very good at explaining principles and material, regardless of subject matter. I am patient, warm, and pleasant. What I do is not so much teach the material as a way to learn the material. My methods are to understand the subject matter the students are weak on and learn it with them, displaying that it takes time learning anything and most of the work in understanding subjects are difficult.
