My comments on tutoring GED : I have taught Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, and 5th Grade. I am certified K-6th grade. I also taught advanced and Intermediate math and language arts in a GED/HiSet program. I currently teach ESOL/CIVICS for an Adult School.

I have taught 5th Grade Math and Science, 3rd Grade, 2nd Grade as an Interventionist, Kindergarten, and most recently Advanced Math and Language Arts / ESOL/CIVICS in and Adult GED/HiSet program. I have the ability to motivate and light the fire of interest in my students by incorporating in my teaching full emersion projects. Using an approach that fully immerses my students in the subject they are learning gives them the opportunity to learn firsthand instead of being merely a receiver of information. I call this approach “Walk a mile”. I have used this approach in many of my student teaching as well as substituting experiences. For example, in a second grade class that was learning about reading maps I became Pirate Scary Sherry and took the students on a treasure hunt. I dressed like a pirate and told the students that I buried a treasure somewhere in the classroom. I made s ... read more

After closing my small business I want to indulge my passion as an educator. Directly out of college I accepted a position as Math teacher at a private school, teaching different levels of mathematics to 7th & 8th grade students. The courses touched on the basic concepts in subjects such as; Algebra, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics and Intro to Calculus. I left academia to pursue a business career but I continued to work with kids. I taught in the Junior Achievement program at a local high school, I tutored individuals, and I spent many years coaching soccer at the middle school level.
I think kids are great. The time I spend coaching a group of teenagers energizes me. I find the key to each child’s personality and try to connect with them individually. I like to joke and have fun with them. My style is casual on the surface but makes for an enjoyable e ... read more

I love children and love teaching anyone to do anything. I enjoy cooking, sewing and gardening and therefore am well able to help your child find academic success in a variety of subjects. I am a firm believer that a student learns by discovering what works for him/her. Every learner has a different learning style and I am prepared to be there for that student and to help them discover the best and most proficient way of accomplishing that learning goal.
The last ten years of my teaching career, I taught Adult Basic Education at Orange Grove Center in Chattanooga, TN, English as a Second Language as well as some GED prep classes for Chattanooga State Techinical Community College. Growing up, English was always my favorite and best subject. I have also been out of our country(S. Korea) teaching English.

A Little Bit About Me...

During the past two years, I have taught Medical Terminology at the college level. Previously, I wrote and presented workshops for early childhood education teachers. Not only did this allow me to teach, it required me to continue my education in all academic areas. With a bachelor degree in Human Services Management and an associate degree in Medical Technology, I have gained much experience in Math, Science, Management and Public Speaking.
My goal is to help each child reach his or her potential. The best way to do this, is to first identify the child's learning style. When this is defined, projects should be tailored to fit that style. I prefer to use a hands-on approach to any subject and present each idea being studied in numerous ways.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have had the opportunity to help students both in a one-to-one and a small group setting. I quickly learn the student's learning abilities and the areas that need improvement. I use kinetic, visual, and auditory teaching methods. Since I have been tutoring at all levels and in most subjects for eight years, I have insight for where a student is and where the student wants and needs to be.
I truly enjoy all aspects of education and have been a teacher at a number of levels and in different cities for eight years. I have taught students in K-12 as well as in college/university. My teaching and tutoring experience has been both one-on-one and small group settings. I have a B.S. in Political Science and History as well as multiple Masters degrees and a Ph.D. in ancient languages, literature, and history. More About This Tutor...

As a special education teacher, I believe learning should be fun and exciting. I teach students based upon their individual needs and learning styles. I love learning and I try my best to pass that love of learning to my children and my students. Using centers in the class room, is a great way to make learning fun. Centers allow students to be actively engaged by presenting the subject material using a hands-on approach while allowing them to move about the room. Giving praise and encouragement to students is also very important in the learning process. Everyone works better when they are encouraged and loved.
After receiving my bachelor's degree in Psychology, I started teaching special education while pursuing my Master's degree. I completed my Master's program in 2005 and received my certification in special education in the state of Tennessee. In 2009, I also received my certif ... read more

Due to my experience with a broad range of young learners, each working at a different academic and or cognitive pace, I follow a modified Socratic approach to both my classroom and one on one instruction by placing the emphasis on the student as we identify areas for growth. I then sculpt an academic program that we both/all have helped to design, thus accessing an invaluable font of enthusiasm and insight addressing how best to approach the needs of each individual student. This is especially true for those students who don't feel heard, suffer from academic performance anxiety or are struggling with the manner in which the material has previously been presented to them.
Over the course of the past 10 years I have spent time working with students struggling to develop their academic skills, particularly in the areas of language arts and the social studies. From my initial work as ... read more

My teaching style is prescriptive, student based. I teach based on how the particular student can grasp and understand what is being taught because students have their own methods and mental tools to open themselves to what is being taught, so that they learn. I, the teacher, learn from the student how he/she understands what is being taught and fit the subject into a student's frame for understanding.
In 2010, I contracted with the Hamilton County Board of Education, HCBE, and successfully taught 3 courses: 2 Algebra II courses and 1 Introduction to Calculus at Red Bank High School. During the 2010-2011 school year: I am a subsitute teacher for HCBE, where I teach different courses in 15 schools for HCBE, both middle school and high school.
