I recognize that each student learns differently. It is important to me to assses the style that is best for the student. I will always differentiate the way I teach to the benefit of the pupil. If a student needs more visual aid and description, that is how I will teach them. If a different student needs manipulatives or prefers auditory lessons, I will provide that for them. As an unerdergraduate at Mississippi State University, I majored in geosciences with and emphasis on forecasting; that is meteorology.I served eight years with the army national guard and completed a year tour of Iraq. While in the national guard I learned valuable leadership skills and how to teach others to preform military tasks. While working on my geosciences degree I took several upper level mathematics courses including trigonometry, college algebra, and calculus. In addition to these courses, I took upper level writing courses such as geowriting and english composition level two. My bachelors degree has taught me much about earth science and minor chemistry.

I love teaching because of the feeling of helping someone who is truly struggling in class! I believe that everyone can learn, but some teachers styles don't match up with the students learning style. I am a very patient and considerate person. I am a firm believer that many students can't learn strictly through theory and need to be walked through example problems. Walking through problems gives them a better visualization of what they are trying to solve.

I spent a lot of my work there helping high school students get ready for the math portion of the SAT, but I also worked with students on their school studies (in calculus, college and high school algebra, and geometry). Most recently, I spent about five months working as a math tutor at Sylvan Learning Center in Jackson, MS.
